I am an American writer, naturalist, and traveler living abroad in Portugal with my husband, kid, and two dogs. Some of my favorite things are early mornings, exploring nature, cooking, and writing.  I read many books, but the genres I return to again and again are science-flavored creative nonfiction, speculative fiction, fantasy, and poetry. 

Since I was a very young child, I have devoured both fiction and nonfiction books and written poetry and short stories. A keen interest in the biological sciences drew me into careers in research and ecological management, but much like one continues to breathe without thinking, I continued to write.

My editing and writing abilities cover trade and technical, from creative writing to analytical assessments. I have written and edited science fiction, urban fantasy, cozy and historical fantasy, as well as technical reports, policy documents, and science communication pieces for NASA and the Department of Energy.

I can also offer subject matter expertise in areas of life science, biology, and earth science to your academic, creative nonfiction, science and speculative fiction, fantasy, or literary manuscript.
